Kiirsti Janhunen
Kiirsti Janhunen is a caring and compassionate attorney well versed in the areas of family law, probate, estate planning, and personal injury. After growing up in Aberdeen, Ms. Janhunen completed her education in California, earning a B.A. in International Studies at Pepperdine and her J.D. at Southwestern Law School. Ms. Janhunen’s early career was spent as a Deputy Prosecutor first for Grays Harbor County, then for King County. More recently, as a resident of Texas, Ms. Janhunen worked at two different firms in trademark and environmental law.
Kiirsti’s love for the Pacific Northwest called her back to the area when she joined the long-standing firm where her father was a named partner: Brown, Lewis, Janhunen & Spencer in Montesano. In addition, Ms. Janhunen represented the City of Ocean Shores in their annual real estate foreclosure action. Kiirsti has also served as the secretary and vice-president for the Grays Harbor County Bar Association since 2018.
The daughter of post-war European immigrants, Ms. Janhunen has traveled extensively and lived overseas. She has taken from that experience a keen compassion for those for whom advocacy may be the only path to handling circumstances that are life-defining. Kiirsti understands that family law cases are exceedingly difficult because each case has its own complexity and will impact those involved and their families for a lifetime.
Kiirsti understands the stresses that bring disharmony, having to start over herself and adapt to new situations. She moved her family five times in the span of 13 years and restarted her career, giving her an appreciation for the struggles many endure and the ability to be adaptable to approaches that the unique nature of family matters require. Having held the roles of parent, employer, and business partner, Kiirsti realizes the value in adapting quickly, and is able to handle all the unpredictable twists and turns cases take throughout their lifecycle.
Kiirsti’s adaptable, industrious, and empathetic traits make her an excellent attorney and team member of Budd Bay Law.
In her free time Kiirsti enjoys snow and water-skiing, hiking, yoga and adventures with her family, including three children and her best friend, Lola, a black Labrador retriever.
